LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN IS IN THE AIR
MÜNCHEN | As a manufacturer of lightweight seat components, the LEIBER Group was not to be missed at the 14th Aviation Forum, where aerospace experts recently met in Munich.
Under the motto "Navigating the future: Sustainability, innovation, collaboration!", 1,300 international visitors came together at the two-day event, including representatives from industry giants such as Airbus, Boeing and Embraer as well as turbine manufacturers and key suppliers, according to the organisers. LEIBER was also among the exhibitors - and for good reason: weight efficiency continues to be a driver of innovation, particularly in the aviation industry. When it comes to lightweight construction, LEIBER traditionally has a say: "Bionically optimised seat components made of forged aluminium combine the advantages of our technology: lightness, production with maximum material efficiency and maximum strength of the resulting components," explains Carmelo Maffia, Head of Customer Focus Team of the LEIBER Group.
AluSpace®: Aluminium tailor-made for aerospace applications
"At LEIBER, we go one step further. We also offer our customers application-optimised materials. For example, we recently introduced the further developed alloy variant AluSpace® based on the aluminium alloy EN AW-7175," continues Maffia. AluSpace® is recommended for aerospace applications due to its strength and high resistance to stress corrosion cracking. However, sustainable components can only be created on the basis of the sum of various capabilities: "At LEIBER, we stand for AluBility®. This term stands for comprehensive processing, material and development expertise in the field of lightweight aluminium construction. We have built up this ‘AluBility® over many decades and also use it for innovative solutions as a contribution to sustainable aerospace technology." After two days at the Aviation Forum Munich, the ‘LEIBER crew’ can summarise the event positively: "The Aviation Forum was a success from our point of view. We were able to make valuable contacts. The exchange between industry experts is always an opportunity to discuss topics and project ideas that often result in fruitful perspectives."
